Policy Guide

  1. NAME – The name is “The Angora Hiking Club”. It is located in Astoria, Clatsop County, Oregon, and has been an active hiking club since 1920.
  2. PURPOSE – The Angora Hiking Club is dedicated to encourage walking, hiking, and other outdoor activities with a focus on building health and camaraderie.
  3. MEMBERSHIP – To become a member of the Angora Hiking Club, an individual must be at least 18 years of age, complete an application form and pay the annual membership fee as established by the Club’s Board. Renewal fees are due in January. Members are strongly encouraged to participate in Club activities such as serving on the Board or a committee, leading a hike, or setup/cleanup at our potlucks/picnics.
  4. LIABILITY – The Club, it’s Officers, and Board of Directors shall not be liable for any injury suffered by any hike participant. Each participant shall sign a waiver of liability prior to the start of an event. All participants in a Club activity shall be under the direction of the coordinator of that activity. For safety reasons no dogs are allowed on hikes. A parent or guardian must accompany children under the age of 18.
  5. DUTIES OF OFFICERS – The Board will be comprised of five elected officers – President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer and Chief Guide. In addition, three at-large members will be appointed by the Board - Media/Publications Director, Webmaster, and Historian.
  6. DUES – Annual dues are currently $10/year and are due by January 31. New people joining in the last quarter of the year are not required to pay dues until the following January.
  7. PRIVACY – To ensure the privacy of member emails, blind copy should be used in all “mass mailings”.
  8. RSVPs – If an RSVP is requested by a hike leader, participants should contact him/her at least 24 hours in advance.
